Who are we?
 

Our History

The Destination Partners story began forty years ago when our Director Adam Carter left his career in advertising on Madison Avenue and opened Brazil Nuts Tours, a boutique special interest travel company offering travelers an authentic way to experience Brazil’s rich culture and natural beauty. Universities soon learned of our unique approach to experiential travel and asked our help in developing their short term, faculty led programs in Brazil and throughout South America. In 2001 Adam and his wife (co-Director Maria Luisa Carter) embarked with their children on a life-changing -journey, circumnavigating the globe for 100 days on the Semester Sea program, one of Brazil Nuts' clients.

 

With this global exposure, and a university’s request to plan a program in Ghana, it became clear that it was time to evolve to the next step.

 

In 2003, The husband-and-wife team opened the Destination Partners division dedicated to serve the short-term faculty led market to destinations worldwide, employing the same approach of high touch client service, local partnerships and destination expertise. Over the following years we continued to evolve, traveling extensively and expanding our network of local partners, while at the same time growing our amazing team. From the beginning we have acknowledged that our strength lies with the quality and dedication of our staff, and today Destination Partners is proud to count a multinational team of experienced travel professionals.

Our Resilience

 

Through tsunamis, earthquakes, civil strike, COVID shutdowns and more Destination Partners has, over forty years, faced and dealt successfully with just about any challenge a travel management company could imagine. Today we continue to thrive and look forward to the opportunities and challenges that the travel management landscape presents in the 2024/25 academic year.

 

Our Mission

We see ourselves at Destination Partners, at or core, as Solution Providers. Therefore, our mission is to meet and exceed our clients’ expectations by providing the highest quality of service through high-touch project management and solution-oriented programing that ensures successful travel programs, and by so doing form strong, trust-based and enduring working relationships with our clients.
